Originally from Philadelphia, Dr. Simon graduated from the University of Maryland with dual majors in Psychology and Zoology.  He received a third B.S. from Pennsylvania College of Optometry and graduated with his Doctorate of Optometry in 1977.  He subsequently completed an externship in Visual Training at the world-renowned Gesell Institute of Child Development, Yale University, New Haven, CT.  He received specialized training the field of Sports Vision from Dr. Donald Tieg, founder of the Institute for Sports Vision in Ridgefield, CT.

He initially opened a private practice in Fairfax, VA and also attained additional licenses in Maryland and Washington D.C.  He is and has been a member of the Optometric Extension Program, the American Optometric Association and the Maryland Optometric Association.

In addition to his full-time practice, Dr. Simon has recently founded the National Sports Vision Institute, a training program geared toward developing peak visual skills for athletes in all sports.

Dr. Simon relocated to Florida and has been in practice here since 1988.  In addition to work and family, he keeps considerably busy with charity work benefiting local elementary schools and underprivileged children.

Dr. Simon follows a developmental approach to vision, examining the entire visual process; he believes there is more to sight than just 20/20 vision.  He analyzes how the individual patient processes and interprets information, enabling him to prescribe a treatment plan that allows the patient to function in the most effective manner.  Such analysis treats the cause, rather than the symptoms of visual impairment, preventing further visual decline.
